SunDay Ceramics was established by Paige Harris, a Canadian artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. Inspired by the innocence and beauty of nature, Paige creates a variety of wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramic pieces, featuring caterpillars, mushrooms, flowers, hearts, and colorful squiggles.
Paige's work is crafted using a variety of clays, handmade slips, and glazes. SunDay Ceramics pieces are produced in small batches at Planted Earth Studios, a studio Paige co-owns. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Paige also teaches workshops and events at Planted Earth Studios.
Paige Harris
Paige moved from Humboldt, Saskatchewan to Calgary, Alberta to pursue her passion for the arts. In 2017, she graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art, specializing in Sculpture.
After college, she worked in the prop-making industry, sculpting Styrofoam sculptures, welding armatures, woodworking, hard-coating, and painting large and small, interior and exterior props.
Inspired by a trip to Thanh Ha Pottery village in Hoi An, Vietnam in 2018, she returned to ceramics and pottery. Using her savings, she established a home studio in a small spare bedroom and broom closet, equipped with a wheel, a used kiln, and clay.
After ten years in Calgary, Paige moved to Edmonton in 2023 to be closer to family and explore the local art scene. In Edmonton, she has taught art in elementary school and currently works as a Partnerships & Development Specialist at Robin Hood Association, a non-profit organization empowering individuals with disabilities.
2024 also marks the opening of Planted Earth Studios, a space for SunDay Ceramics to grow and for the community to engage in artistic exploration.
A CEO Named Blue
SunDay Ceramics is run under the watchful eye of Chief Executive Officer Blue.
Blue has eyes on every step of the ceramic making process from wheel throwing, to hand building, glazing, firing and shipping.
Although she does not provide her staff with health benefits, over-time pay, or sick days, she manages to warm all of our hearts with her cute little face. <3
